Headcanoning one gay character in a same-sex relationship as the opposite sex instead, then proceeding to write and drawn fan art and fanfics where they have a lot of PiV sex or the “trans guy” one gets knocked up? That’s literally just genderswapping to make a gay ship straight and splashing on some rainbow paint so no one will call you out on it. (And if you’re in any fandom with a popular “mlm” ship you HAVE seen this).

The second one is also a bit of an issue in fandom nowadays. I mean who can forget the “trans Mulan” discourse? GNC =/= trans.

The last one is presented as “wrong” because it’s coming from the strawman character but the words are still true. I went through it, as did so many other women. Internalized misogyny/homophobia can be incredibly difficult to overcome, to the point where you just wish the world would see you as a bit more “normal” (”male as norm” fallacy, or in the case of lesbians wanting to be seen and accepted as a straight man: both are possible end goals of transition, both rooted in self-hate).

It’s also interesting that the strawmen are female-coded, while the MC is ftm.
