A growing sentiment seems to be that same sex attraction is fine (okay…good) but do we really have to be so VOCAL about it? Cus you know, it might trigger or invalidate someone.
The answer is yes, we do. Gay men and lesbians have been oppressed for our same sex attraction. Stripping us of our ability to be vocal about our same sex attraction prevents us from discussing this. Also, a big part of our lives is accepting this part of ourselves and learning to love it. If we cannot have these discussions, how can we do this? How can we accomplish anything?
Asking (or in a lot of cases demanding) we reject or keep quiet about our same sex attraction will always hinder us and will never be an acceptable compromise.
