Last week, a judge in Illinois ruled against a transgender girl who challenged a decision requiring her to use a privacy stall when changing in the girls’ locker room at school.

Nova Maday is a high school senior in the Chicago suburbs. At her school, she is allowed to use the girls’ locker room only if she uses a privacy stall. Her lawyers argued that because only trans students have to use the privacy stalls, the rule constitutes discrimination. A judge disagreed.

Cook County Judge Thomas Allen, in his Thursday ruling against Maday, called the case  the “balancing act of all balancing acts,” according to WBEZ.

He based his decision “on a strict reading of the Illinois Human Rights Act,” to which an amendment governing schools was added in 2010, the station reports. That amendment guarantees access without discrimination in all settings, “but not ‘full and equal access,’” WBEZ notes.

Maday and the ACLU said they were disappointed in the decision. “All I want is to be accepted by my school for who I am — a girl,” Maday said in a statement.

“After years and years of hard-fought efforts to ensure that we have a Human Rights Act that protects against discrimination in the state of Illinois … we [are] now being told there is a place where that discrimination is permitted, and that is in our public schools,” ACLU of Illinois spokesman Ed Yohnka told WBEZ. “And I think that is something that frankly ought to alarm people.”

The case is wrapped up in another Chicago-area case about whether transgender students should have the right to use gender-affirming facilities at all. There’s a lot to process; here’s hoping Nova and all the other transgender students at her school eventually receive the equal treatment they deserve.

Allowing males into female exclusive spaces is not justice

Tearing down female exclusive spaces in the name of gender is not justice

Any high school girl would be happy to have a private stall, just for themselves. An entitled high school boy interested in validation and high school girls, however, would not.

You can chalk this up to “principal” all you want, but principal is going to fail to protect women and girls who will become victims of sexual misconduct/violence when ALL men-dysphoric mental illness or no- have access to the spaces in which women are vulnerable.

Eventually every man will know that the password to these safe spaces is “trans.”

I would have loved a private stall to change in! I probably would have done PE much more often.

So they can’t be in the men’s rooms because danger and “dysphoria”. They can’t abide women talking about female issues and bodily functions and organs because “triggering” and “dysphoria”. But they can handle being in women’s  locker rooms and seeing actual female bodies? They can handle correctively/coercively raping lesbians with their male organs?

It is no surprise that some AGP teen boy wants access to teen girls so he can indulge his fetish but WTF is the ACLU, the supposed constitutional rights organization, doing arguing in court that belief trumps material reality?

Another rule of misogyny, perhaps? Men’s beliefs are material reality; women’s material reality is simply an opinion?

Omg, just give all the girls privacy stalls and let him get changed in an empty girls locker room if he’s gonna be like that. The girls will fucking love it, I would’ve killed for that in hs. Getting changed for p.e. was as bad as having to fucking DO p.e.

So why is getting changed out in the open key to him being “accepted as a girl”.
