anyway, the idea that stonewall alone is the birth of the gay rights movement and that it was led by trans women is historical revisionism. stonewall was about gay men and lesbians. marsha p johnson was a gay man and he knew this. he presented and dressed in a traditionally feminine fashion, braking the gender roles imposed on him as a man. the revisionism of stonewall is a disgrace to his memory lmao

Yeah Marsha P Johnson said multiple times that he identified as a gay man and openly laughed at the people who thought he was a woman.

I really don’t understand the disconnect, if someone has said multiple times “I am a man” and you continue to say “no you’re a transwoman”.

What on earth is the disconnect? Why do you think you know more about this man than he does? If you respect someone you don’t ignore what they say about themselves, and make up an identity for them to self serve. That’s the purest form of disrespect. You are not entitled to decide who Marsha p Johnson was. He was who he said he was. It’s infuriating that these people claim we “don’t know our own history” while actively parroting lies and revisionist takes. The neohomophobia is STRONG. 

It’s so disrespectful how genderists try to claim Johnson was a straight trans woman instead of a gay man fighting for gay rights and then use him as a weapon against other gay men and lesbians. ESPECIALLY since he wasn’t even part of the initial stonewall uprising (neither was Rivera). This is such a clear example of erasure and yet it’s so widespread.
