me, in the year 2040, getting ready for a fancy dinner party, standing in front of my antique gold vanity mirror, wearing a saint laurent f/w 2039 evening gown and cartier diamond earrings, taking a sip of champagne: what did you learn at school today, honey? 🙂
my future child, laying on my king-sized bed with burgundy satin sheets: not much, in history we talked about the 2016 election. do you remember any of that?
y’all, not woke: rose mcgowan came out as a genderspecial nonbinary!!
what rose mcgowan actually said: “I think we’re never going to solve anything by going into the man/woman construct. Step back to humanity,” she doesn’t want to be “labelled as a woman when I don’t even know what that means” “we’re all souls” “I don’t explain myself to people because what I’m saying is truth. I come in peace but I also come with f*ck off. That f*ck off is f*ck off to your construct, don’t judge me by what you grew up with. I didn’t grow up like you, I come from a different background,” A lot of people get upset when I say that. (They say) ‘It’s easy for you to say you’re a cis white female’, I’m like look asshole, don’t bore me, don’t put me in your construct, you do not get to say what I am, you do not get to tell me who I am, you do not get to tell me what my intentions are or paint me with a brush that I didn’t buy,”
i thought the bolded part was interesting. isn’t that what y’all say when you don’t want to be called cis? she’s not calling sex a social construct or whatever she’s talking about the cis/trans binary. like there are very valid criticisms of rose mcgowan but her allegedly coming out as nonbinary isn’t one when she explicitly rejects the concept of cisness
The Perfect Explanation of Privilege – In One Powerful Punchline
“The Pencilsword” is a comic strip by Toby Morris, an illustrator from New Zealand. His most recent comic, “On a Plate” hits hard at the heart of the issues of concerning wealth and privilege.
How many times have you heard the “I’ve never been handed anything on a platter” argument in regard to social security and other social benefits?
Toby wrecks this argument by showing how two children can grow up, be loved and supported, and yet still have two very different outcomes.
Make sure to follow all the way to the end for the powerful punchline. This comic is an increasingly sad reality for far too many of this nation’s children and families.
