i feel like these “hearts not parts” shenanigans show how much homosexuality is actually not accepted at all. even “progressive” liberals have to completely make it about sexless love. and now that the gender brigade has gotten ahold of that rhetoric they shame gay and straight people alike (but mostly just gay people) for having “genital preferences” that are closed minded or gross or a fetish. and you can just see how much shame is still built around the concept of genitals because they think that they’re so enlightened for just liking ~people~. gay people just get the most of this criticism because nongay people still think it’s just all about sex, whereas straight sex (particularly PIV) is normalized and people who experience opposite sex attraction aren’t asked to consider that they might just be attracted to genitals and not ~people~
