Things I learned after my second semester of college

brain-exercise:

  1. Don’t beat yourself up about not always exercising as much as you should
  2. Not everyone drinks or goes out or has a fake and it’s ok to not want to
  3. VISIT YOUR TA AND PROFESSOR AT OFFICE HOURS! they’re not that scary and when they recognize you it’s the best feeling
  4. Invest in a sturdy and comfortable pair of shoes/sandals
  5. Talk to that crush… you never know what’s going to happen
  6. Dropping a class is NOT the end of the world, it may be the best step for you
  7. If your campus has shitty drainage (hello umd) don’t wear converse the day it pours!! invest in rain boots!!
  8. Don’t smoke in your dorm, ever
  9. Try to check out books from the hundreds of libraries on campus
  10. Make sure you figure out housing arrangements for next year well before the deadline
  11. Join a club! or two! but don’t feel pressured to stay in them if you’re having trouble managing time or you’re just not feeling it anymore
  12. Talking to your advisor may be stressful but they were hired to help you
  13. You may feel like you’ve found your forever friend group but people will still come and go in your life
  14. Say hi and thank the dorm housekeeper sometime, or every time
  15. Climb a few buildings, sneak into a few places but have at least one sober person with you
  16. Form study groups and utilize technology like GroupMe and Google Docs to work together
  17. Don’t publish your entire life on instagram or snapchat… and obviously be careful what you put online
  18. on that note, try not to use your phone when you’re drunk – you will snapchatting or texting regrets in the morning
  19. Go outside during finals, sunshine helps
  20. Taking notes then rewriting them into a more clear and concise version is effective for studying but definitely not the only way to study
