catcher in the rye is a brilliant book and i think the many, PASSIONATE opinions on it and/or Holden as a character is proof of that…..i don’t wanna get tinfoil but i do think it was specifically written so you relate to him as a younger teen, hate him in your late teens/early twenties, and empathize with him (a clearly mentally ill child who thought the way you thought) as an adult. unless ur one of those grown ass adults who’s still mad u had to read this book in high school. or unless you were only ever concerned with holden being gay, which he is, so you still win
