is there a phrase more obnoxious than “queer as in fuck you”

GOD I hate that phrase so much. I feel like the thing that bothers me the most is how it positions sexuality as a political act, as though their “queerness” is something inherently political and I can’t fucking stand it. I once saw a post that was like “being gay is a radical act of defiance that none of us signed up for” and it really resonated with me because so many of us just want to live our lives and be happy and meanwhile these fucking liberal arts college kids with the purple undercuts and septum piercings who usually aren’t even actually gay push this narrative of politicized sexuality. I’m sick of it.

being queer is inherently political because the state would be fine if you died.

Sorry but there’s nothing political about being a straight homophobe. You’re not in danger, Karen, you’re just self-absorbed with a victim complex.
