I had to write subtitles for this because this is so absurd I thought it was a parody at first (it’s not) but also because I thought gender critical feminists would like to watch that too.
This is from a web talk show called “Arrêt sur images” which criticizes and analyses media. This episode was about pinkwashing, but this particular extract became viral because of how ridiculous it is : the TV host regrets that there are only men on the set and an obviously male guest (one of the organizers of the Pride March in Paris) says that he actually doesn’t identify as a man but as non-binary. Another guest regrets that there are only white people : the non-binary guest says that he’s not white because he’s half-Lebanese and basically asks everyone to stop thinking in terms of stereotypes.
There are many things to say about this :
Why didn’t that guest warn the TV host and production that he’s non-binary beforehand, if not to throw a tantrum in front of the cameras? This is probably not the first time they’re talking.
He suggests that everyone learns about avoiding stereotypes… then says that being half-Lebanese means he’s not white. I thought Lebanese was only a nationality but maybe I’m just close-minded…
None of the guests actually addressed the fact that they don’t encourage female members of their organizations to go to interviews and debates. One tried to make it about him and his gender identity, another tried to make it about race (and about his organization) instead, the third one (not in this extract) said that it was a problem for “women and trans people” and that “society” and “LGBT organizations” should do something, without taking personal responsibility for it. No wonder gay/bi dudes are all over the transgender and migrant issues lately, that gives them an excuse to ignore their misogyny and female erasure…
If you wonder what the reaction was : it became a meme on Twitter ( “I am not a man, I am Groot/Batman/a dinosaur/etc.”), libfems said that the meme was transphobic, and left-wing media said that only the “fachosphère” (groups of far-right activists and trolls on social media) laughed at it when many other people actually mocked it too…
“I don’t know what makes you say that I’m a man but I am not a man.” Holy shit I lost my shit XD. Are we even living in reality anymore.
Honestly? “Non binary” males are a special kind of evil.
I guess we’ll have to start putting pronouns and gender identity on gravestones huh? I mean, people might some day identify a nonbinary or trans woman’s bones and think they’re male, for some reason???? I wonder why they would think that? I’ve never heard of sexual dimorphism or anatomy ever tbh I don’t get why they thought this nonbinary individual was a man???
The level of hypocrisy we’re having to deal with is absurd! How much longer will liberal feminist put up with this shit and keep helping them throw women under the bus?!
