wow i honestly love this
See how they associate conforming to stereotypes with being a woman?
They will talk about how “there’s no definition of womanhood!” but then they do shit like this. This is misogyny.
Womanhood is not a costume. Womanhood is not femininity.
this comic rubbed me the wrong way even in my libfem days… no wonder why.
womanhood is nails, apparently.
Same here. And to be perfectly honest, I don’t have a problem with this person pushing gender boundaries or wearing makeup… Just the fact that they associate all that stuff with being a woman (which I assume is the intention since they ID as trans and use the phrase “presenting as female” and similar things). Especially the panel where all the “woman things” are in little boxes like yes, yes there is all there is to womanhood. Skirts and lip gloss and bracelets and earrings. A life of materialism, external beauty, and shallow pettiness. This attitude toward womanhood is absolutely misogynistic. And it’s especially a huge “fuck you” to gender nonconforming women and girls.
On a smaller note, during this most recent read of this comic I noticed how easily this person can decide not to shave while exploring their femininity. If only it was that simple for female people. How is it progressive to associate gendered clothing and accessories with being a woman?
How is it more radical to put on feminized gear and think it makes you not-a-man?
Why not just actually not conform to gender, stop pretending you can identify out of your biological sex, and show people that regardless of sex you can wear and act however you want because there’s no one right way to be a man? Wouldn’t that be truly “gender non-conforming”?????
How the fuck is acting like “men do ABC and women do XYZ, so if I do XYZ I must be trans/presenting-as-female-/a woman/etc” supposed to be at all revolutionary or even new?????These questions haunted me the whole time I was “transitioning,” until I couldn’t ignore them anymore.
“Breaking it (presenting in a stereotypical “female” way) into bite sized pieces” and they use an image of a cow with its various cuts of meat.
Telling. Telling.
