I know no one likes to hear this, but the little boy who abuses, harasses, and assaults a little girl is not ‘just as innocent’ as she is. He’s not just the poor victim of male socialization. She’s the victim. Women and girls are the victims of male socialization, not men and boys.

Boys act like that as a result of male socialization but that does NOT make them the victims. Understanding where it comes from does not mean you should not hold them accountable, it’s exactly because we don’t hold them accountable for their wrong doings that things like this happens. Acknowledging the reason doesn’t mean excusing, people often will acknowledge the issue but refuse to do anything about it, rather they’d use it as an excuse for said boy’s action and that is wrong. Hold boys/men accountable for their shitty behavior!
