i think a major difference with oppressed groups hating their oppressors is that oppressed groups always try to create spaces away from their oppressors so that there’s little to no interaction, where as oppressors deliberately try to invade those spaces so that they can bring harm to the group they’re oppressing.

think of gay clubs, particularly gay clubs when homosexuality was still illegal in the western world. these places were places of refuge where gay and bi people could be among their own without the heterosexual world judging them and their attraction. and what would happen to those places? they’d get raided by cops, and all of those gay people would be sent to jail and blackmailed thanks to the hetero community who didn’t want “those people” living among them.

think of black spaces. places that black people created specifically to be an oasis in a white supremacist world have always been invaded by white voyueristic people who felt bored with their comfy life of privilege and wanted to roll with the negroes or see negro entertainment or whatever the fuck. and the spaces we carved out for ourselves were both fetishized and hated by white people because black people represent “counterculture” in the eyes of boring suburban whites who wanna spice up their lives. but ultimately, black people would be the ones who’d pay the price for white people coming in black spaces because their white privilege meant that wherever whites were, black people weren’t supposed to be. even if white people were the ones who DELIBERATELY searched out black spaces.

think of women. how we try and try to create female only spaces to have some semblance of rest from misogyny and male violence, only for men to, time and time again, invade these spaces and harm us. whether it’s through invading lesbian bars so that they can fetishize lesbians or trying to get women-only libraries, shelters, or what have you shut down because they aren’t “inclusive enough”, men have always had a hatred of women having our own spaces.

it’s always the oppressor group that is trying to break into those spaces and, more often than not, put the oppressed group in harm’s way. that’s why marginalized people hating the people who marginalize them will never be “as bad” as an oppressor group hating the group it marginalizes.
