i asked this individual in my class their preferred pronouns because they have a trans flag on their bag and they say “why aren’t you asking everybody else in the class” and i say “because you have a trans flag on your backpack” and they walk away muttering at me without telling me anything.

it feels like the goalposts are always moving.
