because wanting half of the entire human population as sex slaves or dead is such a harmless gateway to what? more “serious” forms of hate as in targetting men? Like Idk I may be tired and grumpy but it rubs me the wrong way.
No, you’re 10000% correct. Even when they think they’re being “benevolent”, men’s actual attitude towards women is that we exist to bear the brunt of men’s aggression.
Such an important point! This attitude of misogyny being “acceptable” while other forms of oppression aren’t reminds me of a quote by Letty Cottin Pogrebin: “When men are oppressed, it’s a tragedy. When women are oppressed, it’s tradition.”
Well, also giving David Futrelle credit for what women were sounding the alarm on for much longer. He often went for low hanging fruit and was very much of the opinion that many of them were harmless basement-dwellers. At times female regulars of the blog were told we were being too mean to the trolls that he thought were just well-meaning but uneducated. One of them ended up hurling misogynistic slurs at us and David was away from his blog at the time.
