lesbianslovingwomen:

Today I’m thinking about all the lesbians in this world who never get to live their truth, and I feel so mournful…

There are lesbians everywhere.

There are closeted lesbians who don’t have the ability to safely come out.

There are lesbians from religious backgrounds who are called sick and sinful, and who are forced to endure conversion therapy.

There are lesbians who push down their truth due to internalized homophobia.

There are lesbians who are in long term relationships with or even married to men, who didn’t realize their truth until it was too late.

There are lesbians in other countries who cannot be out because homosexuality is illegal and they could end up in prison or even dead.

There are lesbians who go to their graves without ever being able to be with a woman, and there are lesbians who have been murdered for daring to be with a woman.

I live in a city where I can be proudly out—where I can hold my partner’s hand in public without incident. And that is a privilege that I do not take lightly.

To all the lesbians who are struggling right now: I see you. I love you. You matter so much.
