Hey dears!
I know Adrienne Rich is a gross TERF to avoid. However, one of my professors has assigned Rich’s piece “Claiming an Education” as a reading for the course. I’m wondering if any of you know of a reading that similar in topic/ideas that is not written by a TERF, so I can suggest it to my professor to use as a replacement reading for the future.
(obviously, terfs do not interact)
Just read it. You’ll live.
Try not to burn it
We know what trans activists do to ideas they don’t agree with
Don’t read it and fail the course! ^.^
Or stop being so fucking immature! Maybe university is not the place for you, if you can’t handle reading works by people you don’t agree with.
I often read things from people I don’t agree with (not just comments) and watch videos of people I don’t agree with.
It is wise to understand what your opponents believe in. It strengthens your arguments and broadens your horizons.
I had to read Freud and a lot of other misogynist authors,
be a big girl OP, I’m sure you can handle some words of a feminist lmaoYall do understand that the point of college is to engage with new ideas? It’s not supposed to be an echo chamber hug box. If you hate it, give an impassioned, eloquent response in class. That’s the point. If everybody read stuff they agreed with, there wouldn’t be class discussion so much as class circlejerk. You’re supposed to be learning to read things critically, form an opinion, and debate academically. So do that. Or lose points for refusing to do so. You’re a grownup now, so you get to make those grownup choices.
Reblogging again for more serious responses.
students really do be like this though
