something i find interesting about the “trans women are women” movement on tumblr is that simultaneously, you have this girl positivity movement going on, so you see a lot of posts saying stuff like “women are beautiful!”, “women are worthy of respect!”, “all women deserve to be happy and loved!” etc. (obviously these are very general examples but y’all know the posts i’m talking about)
but as soon as one of these posts start circulating, trans women just jump on it. start sending the op messages like, “does your post include trans women too?” and so it leads to this trend where those positivity posts about women often look more like: “women are beautiful!” followed by a reblog from the op/another user, saying, “ESPECIALLY trans women, who this definitely includes!”
and what’s interesting about this is that in needing the clarification and validation, that yes, those posts are about them, they expose the fact that they don’t agree with their own movement.
if they believed in “trans women are women”, there would be no need to jump onto posts like that. the statement of “women are beautiful” would inherently include them, because, well “trans women are women”. instead, all they effectively prove is that they themselves don’t believe that trans women are women—if they did, they’d have no need for the questions, no need for the validation, and no need for differentiation.
